Napa Valley & Sonoma is one of my favorite travel locations to date! We went last year as part of a California road trip. Before the trip we asked a ton of people whose opinions and tastes we trust what all we should do on our trip. Here were our… [read more]
In this weeks episode of #TheStylishSouth I’m talking about my favorite spot for Mexican in Greenville, Local Taco. It is the perfect blend of Tex-Mex meets southern soul food and they use a ton of local ingredients! You can grab a Margarita or house-made sangria and sit on the porch under a string of lights and chat the night away while stuffing for your face with the best dishes around. It’s the perfect blend of a trendy atmosphere with a laid-back vibe and they have huge garage doors that open when it’s nice out. With 8 locations in Alabama, Kentucky, South Carolina and Tennessee I’m obviously not the only one who has taken notice!
Circa 1886 is a fine dining restaurant located in the original carriage house of the historic Wentworth Mansion in downtown Charleston, SC. The name derives from the year it was built, 1886, and the character of the structure is still very much in tact. The wood-burning kitchen fireplace, stable doors and original heart-of-pine floors are all original and oozing with charm. One of Charleston's best restaurants, Circa 1886 serves a seasonal menu with a focus on local product, high quality ingredients and Southern flavors. With traditional Lowcountry dishes created by Chef Marc Collins, Circa 1886 is one of those places that you can know every item ordered will exceed your cullinary expectations.
Happy Memorial Day everyone! I’ve teamed up with Charming Inns, a family-owned and operated collection of historic inns and restaurants in Charleston, SC, to give you an inside look at their properties and restaurants all week long plus an opportunity to win a stay at one of their Inns. Charming Inns owns the Fulton Lane Inn, the John Rutledge House Inn, the Wentworth Mansion, the Kings Courtyard Inn in addition to Kitchen 208 Restaurant & Circa 1886 Restaurant. Over the next week I’ll be sharing behind-the scenes looks of each of their properties and details on all of their summer specials. Plus you have a chance to win an overnight at one of their inns!
If you haven’t heard of Greenville, SC by now then come on out of whatever rock you’ve been living under… it’s May, the weather is nice and I have a lot of things to catch you up on. One of which being my love for Greenville! It’s been named one of the 10 fastest growing cities in America, one of the best places to live, and earned the title of one of America’s greatest main streets over the past few years. Awards and accolades are great and all but sometimes you need to hear it straight from the horse’s (blogger’s) mouth.
In planning our trip to Napa & Sonoma I reached out to several of my foodie and well-traveled friends for tips on where we should eat. Over and over again I was met with a resounding “but you HAVE to eat at The Girl & The Fig” so I reached out to Sondra Berstein, aka THE GIRL of The Girl & The Fig and she set us up to get the full experience!
