Last weekend we hopped down to Charleston for a fun weekend at the Wentworth Mansion. The team behind the Wentworth’s marketing and PR reached out to me and asked if Zach and I would be willing to be a part of their 20th anniversary celebration…. [read more]
The first time we visited the Excellence in Playa Mujeres it was 2012 and we were babies who didn’t have babies. The circumstances of our arrival weren’t exactly normal either. We had only been married for 5 months and it was our first couples’ trip… [read more]
On our most recent trip to Charleston we were lucky enough to stay the majority of the time at The Spectator. Located a few steps off of Market Street, this hotel is literally minutes from anywhere you would want to go in downtown Charleston. You… [read more]
Last week Zach and I visited Mexico’s newest luxury all-inclusive, UNICO 20˚87˚. As I shared our experience on instagram so many of you wanted more information about the resort so I put together this little review. Two weeks ago I was wrapping up a beautiful trip to Sea Island for The Southern C. The conference was fantastic and I honestly cannot say enough good things about the excellence of execution, quality of speakers and opportunities for networking. If you want to read a little bit more about The Summit you can check out this post. Not only was the conference top notch but the resort where it was held was unbelievable! Sea Island is a five start resort on the coast of GA with five miles of private beach, a 65,000 SF five-star spa, three golf courses, a fitness center and endless dining options. There are four options for lodging at Sea Island; The Cloister, The Lodge, The Inn and The Cottages. The Cloister is the “main” property and is an impressive 5-star luxury hotel.

If you're on the hunt for a place to vacation this fall where you can be within driving distance of Greenville, SC & Asheville, NC with sweeping views of the Blue Ridge mountains then you need to consider a stay at Hotel Domestique in Travelers Rest, SC. This European-style hotel is located just 20 minutes north of Greenville, SC and a hop, skip and a jump from downtown Travelers Rest where my beloved Tandem Creperie and one of the best spots for pizza in the upstate are located. Tucked into the countryside of the Carolina hills, Hotel Domestique is like a little slice of Europe right off of highway 25. The property is home to 13 elegantly decorated rooms, a salt-water pool and an unbelievable on-site restaurant. Luckily for me this spot is pretty much in my backyard so Katheryn and I recently took a little trip to check it out!
If you've ever driven into downtown Charleston from Lockwood onto Broad then I know that you have noticed the beautiful historic house with the deep green 2-story wrought iron and the black and white checkered tile. It's none other than the John Rutledge House Inn, a Bed & Breakfast operated by Charming Inns. John Rutledge was the first governor of SC, a member of the Supreme Court and one of the 55 signers of the US Constitution. In fact he even drafted the Constitution and entertained Mr. George Washington himself right in this very house.
When you check into The Wentworth Mansion it's like checking in to someone's home. And in the late 1800s that is exactly what this 24,000 square-foot, four-story building was, a home. The Wentworth Mansion was built by a wealthy cotton merchant Francis Silas Rodgers in 1881 and completed in 1886 for his family of 13. As you walk through the halls you can just imagine the children running in and out of the bedrooms and how busy the place must have been full of family members and staff.
If you ask me, no city does old-school southern charm like Charleston does. To fully immerse oneself in the historic beauty and opulence of this city, Charming Inns has got you covered. Their Kings Courtyard Inn is located right in the heart of all the action downtown, but has the perfect amount of luxurious privacy as you wander through the many courtyards to get to your room. Being one of the oldest buildings on Kings St, Kings Courtyard is as authentic as you can get. The Inn was a hotel back in the 1800’s, but has the perfect amount of modern luxuries without taking away from the beauty of it’s historic past. Think entering clean modern baths, after walking on old hardwood floors.
Yesterday I brought you a preview of Charming Inns, a collection of historic inns & restaurants in Charleston, SC and kicked off a week long giveaway where someone will win an overnight at the Fulton Lane Inn. If you missed the announcement but want to enter you can find all of the details here. The Fulton Lane Inn is 3-story brick hotel located on King Street and surrounded by shopping, restaurants and within walking distance to pretty much anything you want to do downtown Charleston.
