Alright guys I did it. I took the plunge and created a YouTube Channel. Before I get in to why exactly I’m embarrassing myself on the internet I want to put it out there that I am fully aware that I’m not a professional hair stylist. Or makeup artist for that matter. (Right now every person actually trained to do hair and/or makeup is semi-rolling their eyes and snarking to themselves… “yeah, we can tell”.) I’m just a girl who thoroughly enjoys binge watching hair and makeup tutorials and learning how to look like a prettier version of myself. Call me old fashioned but I don’t think there is anything wrong with a girl wanting to feel pretty, ok? And when that girl is a mom of two discovering dark spots and fine lines on her face the desire to look cute goes from “maybe I need a new lipgloss” to “quick honey hold the baby I need to go to Sephora and try all the samples and get someone to tell me how to fix this lizard skin situation.”

If you’ve been following this blog or my instagram for any amount of time you know that I’ve only been blogging consistently for about a year. That is because up until then I was literally pregnant, breast-feeding, pregnant again and breast feeding again for a solid 3 years. I’ve been taking my time losing the baby weight mostly because I’ve had an excuse until now but partly because with two jobs and two babies I haven’t really had that many extra brain cells or energy to devote to the cause. Now that Scottie is a year and a half this will be the first summer that I officially can’t have the excuse of “oh yeah I have a newborn” because she will probably be running and jumping off the high dive. I decided it was time to get serious and get my athletic body back this spring so Zach and I decided to do 3 weeks of clean eating as a little kick-start. For 21 days straight we ate only lean protein, green veggies, berries + apples for a treat and Melba toast when we felt like we were going to die if we didn’t have a carb. For beverages all we had was water and more water, black coffee and green tea. I not only started dropping the pounds but I have more energy and am loving the fact that I’m starting to look and feel like myself again.
It’s time for March’s Mom Style Monday and we are talking all about spring date night trends. Last month we discussed how to wear loungewear so it was only appropriate that we put on real clothes this time. This is going to sound terrible because I really love my husband and I REALLY love spending time with him but sometimes date night can stress me out. It’s not the actual date you see but rather the trying to get ready, feeding my kids dinner, prepping the baby sitter and getting out of the house without being a sweaty flustered mess that gets me. My two pro-tips for keeping your sanity for date night are a) put the kids in the tub while you do your hair and makeup and b) having a collection of cute tops that you can wear with your go-to skinny jeans and pumps.

Oh my stars today has been a doozy! For starters my website’s hosting service crashed and so if you tried to visit it in the past 14 hours or so I’m sorry for the trouble! The site went down shortly after I published my Sea Island Travel Guide. Check it out for some great information on staying at The Cloister and a huge list of where to shop and what to eat in St. Simons. The site being down also affected a ton of people wanting to shop my pics from the Shopbop sale. Here are all of the items that I shared on my Instagram stories.

Two weeks ago I was wrapping up a beautiful trip to Sea Island for The Southern C. The conference was fantastic and I honestly cannot say enough good things about the excellence of execution, quality of speakers and opportunities for networking. If you want to read a little bit more about The Summit you can check out this post. Not only was the conference top notch but the resort where it was held was unbelievable! Sea Island is a five start resort on the coast of GA with five miles of private beach, a 65,000 SF five-star spa, three golf courses, a fitness center and endless dining options. There are four options for lodging at Sea Island; The Cloister, The Lodge, The Inn and The Cottages. The Cloister is the “main” property and is an impressive 5-star luxury hotel.
